The issue came to light, when their wards sought money for their treatment, the sisters handed over the currency notes, putting their relatives in surprise and shock.
While Rangammal has saved Rs.24,000 and Thangammal Rs.22,000 in old 500 and 1,000 notes and the relatives are now shell-shocked as they do not know what to do with the money.
The sisters, who were doing petty jobs, were not aware of demonetisation and went on to save old notes, for the future purpose for their grandsons and granddaughters.
