Libas Tailoring Institute, started by the Coimbatore Chapter of NGO Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for empowerment of Muslim women, celebrated its 12th anniversary on Wednesday.
This institute has been conducting tailoring programmes for women to make them self-reliant and financially independent. Each year nearly 120 women successfully complete the course that is affiliated to the Government Polytechnic College for Women and certified by the HRD Ministry.
According to M. Abdul Hakkim, Public Relations Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Coimbatore, so far more than 1,000 women have benefitted from the training.
A few deserving candidates received sewing machines.
