Urging the District Administration to complete the Rail Over Bridge (ROB) and also provide basic amenities including bitumen road, public toilets, and sewage system, members of the Sivalingapuram Residents’ Welfare Association petitioned the District Collector TN Hariharan, here in Coimbatore, on Monday.

According to the petition, the construction of the ROB at SIHS colony has been constantly delayed, forcing the residents to take long detours. “The work has been delayed for more than three years. The work of another ROB over the third crossing should also be started and completed soon,” said V. Dheivendiran, president of the association.

He also added that the storm water drains in the area are choked with silt and debris, and have not been cleaned up. “Waters flood the streets as the drains are blocked,” he said.

Another resident complained that the area does not have a proper sewage drain and demanded that funds be allotted for the construction of a drainage system.

The members also demanded that the roads in the area be renewed, and a public toilet be constructed there.
