Tamil Nadu Rural Development Officials Association today called for a state-wide agitation on August 29, to highlight the alleged corruption at higher levels in the Department.
Briefing reporters on the deliberations of State Executive Meeting of the Association held here, its President, Subramanian alleged heavy financial irregularities in the procurement of LEDs for 4,000 village panchayats and purchase of chlorine tables in the State.
Accusing a top official of the department of indulging in rampant corruption, he said that the department has not allocated funds to these panchayats for the last six months.
Over 30,000 staff will wear black badges and stage demonstration in all the district headquarters, to highlight the corruption prevailing in the Rural Development Department, Subramanian said.
