Coimbatore : Tight vigil is being kept on Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, over the possibility of two injured Maoists crossing to the State for treatment in the hospitals.

One Maoist was killed and three others sustained bullet injuries in an encounter with Thunder Bolt Police in Vythiri of Wayanad in Kerala last night.

With the possibility of injured Maoists crossing to Tamil Nadu, particularly through Coimbatore, an alert has been sounded, including in tribal hamlets to inform the presence of any injured persons.

Similarly, the hospitals in and around Nilgiris districts have been asked to contact police immediately, if any persons got admitted with bullet injuries, police said.

Strict vigil has been kept at the border, strategic points in urban and rural in both the districts. Vehicle checks have also been intensified to flush out the escaped Maoists, they said.
