In a tragic incident, a 15-year-boy died on his birthday by getting stuck in wet mud, bathing in a stone pond.

Mohan, aged 15, was the son of Rajsekar from Ramachettipalyam. Mohan was studying in Class X at a private school in Kuniyamuthur. On Christmas holiday, Mohan and his friends went to take bath in the stone pond at Arivozhi Nagar.

After a while, when Mohan was nowhere to be seen, his friends informed the nearby people, who in turn, informed the police. The police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved the body after struggling for more than 24 hours.

The body was sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital immediately for post-mortem. Police have launched an investigation. Residents have been requesting the authorities to close down the stone pond due to constant deaths that have been occurring there. The boy’s death has created an atmosphere of fear in the area.
