Three persons were arrested by the special team engaged in nabbing the culprits who have been charged of
murder of a woman, while they attempted to snatch a chain from her a few days ago in the city.
A motor cycle borne gang had waylaid 37-year old Meenaskhi, who was going home with her son on a moped, resulting in her fall on the road, resulting in serious head injuries.
The incident occurred on the night of November 18, when one of the persons made a futile attempt to snatch the chain of Meenakshi, as public thwarted their bid when the woman-son duo raised an alarm to attract passersby.
Meenakshi died at the Government hospital the next day. A special police team was formed to trace the gang.
On Monday the Police team intercepted a mo-bike and during investigation the motorcyclists confessed to involvement in various chain snatching incidents in the city. However investigations reveal that they have no connection with the incident where the woman who was pushed to death.
Based on the confession of the accused, identified as Nawasudeen, Anwar Sathick and Mohammed Salam, police recovered 28 sovereigns worth gold chains valued at Rs. 5 lakh, which they had robbed from various places in the city.
All the three were produced before the Judicial Court and remanded to custody.
