Three-member gang murder auto driver

Thanjavur: A three-member armed gang fatally attacked an auto driver in Thanjavur this evening.

Charles, 33, a resident of Quaid-e-Milleth Nagar on the Vilar Road, reportedly had an altercation a week ago with Gobi Sundaram (26), also an auto driver, and resident of Naavalar Nagar.

According to police, Charles was standing near his vehicle near the TASMAC shop at Quaid-e-Milleth Nagar, when Gobi Sundaram along with two friends came with ‘aruvals’. On seeing them, Charles started running, but the gang attacked him indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.The assailants escaped from the scene.

Police rushed to the spot, retrieved the body and sent it to Thanjavur medical college hospital for postmortem.

A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the killers.
