With life slowly returning to normalcy in the violence-torn regions of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, over the Cauvery dispute, more than 300 youths from various districts today rallied on two-wheelers, emphasising on the need to link lakes and rivers.

Youngsters from various districts including Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, and Salem, rallied on two wheelers from Codissia grounds up to five kilometres on the Thannerpandhal Road, in Coimbatore, creating awareness about the importance of saving rivers.

“Linking of the rivers is the only solution to the increasing shortage of drinking water. This will also ensure that farmers in India do not commit suicide,” said Vishnu R. Kannan, one of the members of the Ver Organisation, which organised the event.

He further added that awareness campaigns will be conducted by the organisation in the future to stress upon the importance of conserving water by linking rivers.
