TNEB engineer held for taking bribe

Coimbatore : An assistant engineer with TNEB was arrested today while accepting bribe to show favour in Dharapuram in nearby Tirupur district.

Kannimuthu was working in Manakadavu EB office and sought Rs 2,000 from a farmer Kumar to convert his domestic connection to an agriculture one, police said.

Kumar immediately alerted the sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, who laid a trap. They caught Kannimuthu red handed, while he was taking the tainted currency from the farmer, police said.
