The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board is preparing the list of allottees for the new houses that it is currently building in Vellalore and Keeranatham at a cost of Rs.234 crores. The projects were inspected today by district collector Archana Patnaik and Mayor P. Rajkumar.
The Vellalore project consists of 2,816 houses in ground + 3 storey format on 20 acres land at a cost of Rs.172 crores. The first phase consists of 88 houses of 400 sq. ft each, with a hall, bedroom, kitchen and toilet. The houses will be ready by February 2016.
The Keeranatham project will have 1,280 houses over 9.7 acres of land, at a cost of Rs.62.04 crores. 40 of these houses will be ready in two more months.
The houses are built for relocating the government land encroachers and slum dwellers.
