Traffic violations: Police seize over 10,000 licences

The City traffic police have registered 17,000 cases for various traffic violations and seized the driving licences of 10,514 persons so far in this year.

The department has recommended the respective RTOs either to cancel or keep them under suspension for certain period, an official release said on Wednesday.

The department has followed the Court directive with regard to traffic violations to prevent road accidents and taken action against those involved in over speed, red light jumping, cell phone driving, overload in goods carriage and also carrying persons in goods carriage and were booked under six different Motor Vehicles Act, it said.
