While molestation charges fly against son; Madras High Court refuses anticipatory bail

Chennai: Trouble is pouring for expelled AIADMK leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sasikala Pushpa, with complaints of sexual harassment being levelled against her son Pradeep and her husband and the MP tried to hush up the matter.

Now, two teenaged girls, working as maid servants in Chennai and Tuticorin homes of the MP, lodged a formal complaint with commissioner of police, Tuticorin that her son Pradeep tried to sexually harass them. The girls alleged that the MP’s son was in an inebriated condition when he molested the duo.

They further alleged that the MP and her husband tried to hush up the matter. The maids – Jhansi Rani and Bhanumati sought the arrest of the trio.

More set back was in store for the Rajya Sabha MP when the Madras High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail to the three as sought by Sasikala Pushpa citing reasons that Anna Nagar police were trying to frame charges against them on flimsy complaints from neighbors.

However, on Monday, when the matter came up before the court, the public prosecutor maintained that as contended by the Rajya Sabha member, there were no cases filed against her at Anna Nagar police station as was being contended by them while seeking anticipatory bail.

When the position was thus clarified by the public prosecutor, the high court judge dismissed the plea for anticipatory bail moved by Sasikala Pushpa.
