Two-day vegetable show begins at Kotagiri

Ooty: The 10th Vegetable Show began at Kotagiri in the Nilgiris District today, marking the beginning of the annual Summer Festival in the district, a major tourist centre.

The major attraction at the two-day show was a statue of Nandi (Bull usually kept in front of Shiva Temple), which was made of 500 kg of black brinjal and decorated by different vegetables weighing 200 kgs and placed at the entrance of the venue.

Other attractions include Barby girl, Butterfly, a bullock cart, panda and Seshashayana, made of different vebetables.

Besides, there are stalls displaying hill vegetable and those brought from Theni, Dharmapuri, Coimbatore and Vizhuppuram districts, official sources said.

The annual flower show, the major attraction of the festival, will begin in Udhagamandalam on May 18, they said.
