Two held for hunting Peacock in Sirumugai

Two persons were held for hunting peacock in Thenkal Parai Kadu near Pethikuttai coming under the Sirumugai Forest range. The arrested accused would be produced in the court.

Those arrested have been identified as Ravi and Vellingiri , both belonging to the same area.

On Sunday, Sirumugai Forest officials, based on a tip off, went to Pethikuttai forest coming under the Sirumugai Forest range.

“While on a patrol we found three persons wandering near Thenkal Parai Kadu suspiciously. Just as we were questioning them, one escaped but the other two were caught red-handed. Preliminary investigations has revealed that they had hunted peacock,” said one of the forest officials.

Forest officials also seized carcass of two peacocks, 16 ball rush bullets and a bike.
