Amid precautionary steps being taken to prevent spread of Dengue, two persons affected with swine flu have been admitted to the Government Hospital here.
Hariyan (62) from Udhagamandalam was admitted to the Government Hospital, following complaints of high fever and throat pain a couple of days ago. Even as his swab test revealed sine flu positive, a 51-year old woman, who returned from Tirupati a week ago, had come with the swine flu symptoms of fever and pain in the throat, hospital sources said.
Test reports of Padmini, a resident of Veerapandipudur on the outskirts, today revealed that she was also suffering from swine flu, they said.
Both the patients are undergoing treatment in isolated wards.
“When common cold shows no signs of improvement even after after three to five days, the patient must see the doctor immediately. Self medication and across the counter medicines must be avoided,” Coimbatore Medical College Hospital Dean, Dr Edwin Joe, told Covai Post. “Swine flu is treated with antiviral antibiotics drugs at the GH. Those diagnosed with swine flu can source drugs from the GH,” he added.
He urged the people to take more precaution while moving at public places as swine flu was in air.
