In a freak incident, a tyre burst triggered heart attack in a 20-year-old mechanic near Sulur.
Hariharan (20), a native of Karkodi village in Tirunelveli, working in a vulcanising and puncture shop at Papampatti Pirivu near Sulur, died of heart attack when a tyre he was filling air burst.
Hariharan was on duty on Friday morning, when a lorry driver came to the shop to ask him to rectify a puncture. Hariharan removed the tyre tube and filled the puncture. He fitted it into the tyre and started filling air sitting close to the tyre, holding the air meter gauge nozzle.
Suddenly the tyre burst with a big bang due to excess air and he was thrown away.Hearing the sound people nearby gathered in large numbers and local shopkeepers came to the rescue of Hariharan.They found him dead due to heart attack.
The shop owner Senthilkumar was informed and based on the complaint give, Sulur police registered a case. Hariharan’s body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical Center and Hospital for post mortem.
