Union Minister assures to look into export related issues

COIMBATORE: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has assured the ready made garment exporters to help to address various export related issues.

The assurance was given when a delegation of Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) met and presented a memorandum to Prabhu in New Delhi on Monday.

The main issues TEA referred to are Rebate of State Levies, GST Paid, Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme capital subsidy impacting the export growth, TEA President Raja M. Shanmugham said in a release on Tuesday.

“The exporters also appealed to Prabhu to take up the issue with Finance Ministry not to insist the exporting units to pay advance tax at a time when the industry was undergoing an unprecedented crisis after implementation of GST and also drop the recent action like attaching the bank account of the units,” Raja Shanmugham said.

The delegation also met the Commerce and Industry Secretary Rita A Teaoltia and Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
