A visually challenged man petitioned the District Collector Archana Patnaik that another visually challenged woman allegedly cheated him of Rs. 80,000.

According to L. Shanmuganathan, studying B.A English final year at Government Arts College, he was receiving a monthly allowance of Rs.5,000 as scholarship and also some amount from the Government.

“I also work as a mechanic. I am in love with a woman named D. Buvaneshwari, who is also visually challenged studying. She is studying at Loyola College, Chennai. She promised to marry me and so I used to send her money every month. In the last one year, she has received around Rs.80, 000 from me. But now she is avoiding me and refusing to return my money,” he said.

While he was in Chennai last month, she did not respond to his calls, and he was also allegedly assaulted by a gang. He filed a complaint at B3 Police station, but they did not take any action.
