To educate and bring awareness among the public on liver-related diseases, an exclusive website was launched by Gem Hospital and Research Centre here, today.

Besides this, a 24-hour helpline to clarify doubts about all liver-related problems, including emergencies, was also launched, with a hotline number 96009-53999.

Inaugurating the website ‘gemhpb.com’ and hotline number, the City Corporation Commissioner, Dr. Vijay Karthikeyan said that with the advancement of technology, public was able to know the details of any disease with a touch of the finger.

The Centre Chairman, Dr.C. Palanivelu said that Viral Hepatitis B and C, and alcohol consumption are the predominant causes for failure of liver (cirrhosis), wherein early identification and treatment can prevent the damage of liver further.

Free testing of hepatitis B and C as well as free consultation regarding all liver diseases for the public was also held during the launch.
