A woman sustained burn injuries when she attempted to play a trick of self immolation to scare her drunkard husband in the city last night.

Kamatchi, who had a love marriage with Kamaraj, was upset over the drinking habit of her husband, police said.

As usual, Kamaraj came drunk yesterday also and picked up a quarrel with Kamatchi,
who in a fit of rage and to teach her husband a lesson, poured kerosene all over
her body. Though she did not intend to light a fire, a fire from a lit stove spread on to the sari of Kamatchi.

Even as the husband attempted to put off the fire, sustaining injuries in the melee, the neighbours rushed to the house and managed to put off the fire.

They admitted both to the Government Hospital here, where they are being treated. All Woman Police station in Perur is investigating the incident.
