A worker in a rubber industry in the city today died after his head smashed against the ceiling of a lift in the factory.

According to police, Dipan Machan, hailing from Assam, was taking spare parts and other components in the lift and suddenly his head smashed at the ceiling, killing him on the spot.

On information, police and fire service and rescue personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring out the body from the jammed lift.

The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigations on.
