If there’s a skin problem that’s as dreadful as pimple or acne, it is blackheads. The tiny black spots, that commonly occur on the nose, are not that easy to get rid of. Blackheads are formed when there’s a clogging in the opening of hair follicles due to the accumulation of excessive sebum, dirt and dead skin cells. There are many reasons that could cause blackheads such as improper skincare, excessive use of cosmetics, hormonal changes in the body, stress and so on. While you can resort to many medical treatments to get rid of blackheads, home remedies too can prove to be as effective.

Blackheads can sit on your face for a long time unless you get rid of them. One of the most effective ways to do this on your own is steaming your face. If you have done facials at parlours, you would be accustomed to this. Steaming helps in opening the clogged pores and removing the dirt. Other than this, these home remedies will help too:

Baking soda + oatmeal

Baking soda has antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it also acts as an excellent skin exfoliator. Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda, one tablespoon of oatmeal and add a little water to make a paste. Apply it generously on the affected area and gently massage. Allow it to dry for a few minutes before rinsing it off with warm water. Do this twice in a week.

Cinnamon + lemon juice

Cinnamon has amazing antibacterial properties, and is known to improve blood circulation. Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder, add one tablespoon lemon juice and a little water to make a paste. Slatther generously on your skin and let it stay for 15 minutes. Wash and pat dry. Do this daily.

Sugar + honey

While sugar acts as a great face scrub, honey works to remove dirt with its antibacterial properties and brings back moisture to your skin. Take three tablespoon granulated sugar and add one tablespoon honey to it. Use it to gently scrub the skin and then wash with cold water.

Egg white

Egg whites work like a charm to tighten skin pores and remove sebum and dirt. It is therefore commonly used as a face pack. All you need to is is whip an egg white and apply it all over your face and neck. Let it dry completely and then peel it off and wash your skin.

Now that you have these remedies, make the most of them and keep your skin looking flawless.
