A video clip of Priya, from her upcoming film Oru Adaar Love, went viral on social media, making Priya Prakash Varrier shoot to fame even ahead of the release of her debut movie. Talk about the power of the Internet. With thousands of memes and an almost instant blue tick on Instagram after this viral post, Priya’s is now a face that is known to millions (3.2 and counting).

If you’re in the limelight and a part of a film industry, it’s somewhat expected that you’re automatically going to be up-to-the minute with fashion trends. Priya Prakash Varrier might have become an internet sensation thanks to the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi from her upcoming film, which now has over 20 million views on YouTube, but her overnight fame appears to have caught her somewhat unprepared. Judging from her posts on Instagram, Priya is still – rather refreshingly – unstyled and dresses as any other young woman – Google says she’s only 18 – would.

Yesterday, there were no fancy outfits in honour of Valentine’s Day. Priya posted a picture of herself holding a box of Pringles. The picture was captioned, “So many Valentines requests but I’m staying #SingleAsAPringle”. While we can concur with Priya’s sentiment, it’s rather sweet how she’s wearing a simple floral printed outfit, her hair done anyhow.

Priya’s personal style, in the absence of a team of stylists and makeup artists, is simple and casual. She seems to stick to what she’s most comfortable in – jeans, tees and kurtis on most days and sarees on occasion. She looks cute anyway.

She might not have the most spectacular style yet, but full points to Priya for staying effortless and true to her own self. Given her current level of fame, it’s probably only a matter of time before the stylists and makeup artists are brought in to make her over. But we hope that’s going to take a while because so much of Priya’s charm is her girl-next-door look.
