Thrissur: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s ire against media has landed two cops in soup.
Yet to recover from media criticism for protecting ousted minister Thomas Chandy in the lake encroachment case, Pinarayi blamed police for free media access to the venue of party state committee meeting at the Lenin Centre office in Kochi on Friday.
Repeated questions on CPI’s charge of not being informed about the advocate-general’s advice on Chandy’s encroachment flared up Vijayan’s temper.
He blurted out at a female reporter who persisted with the question. He also chided a policeman standing nearby.
The matter reached the office of the Director-General of Police who rushed more top officials to the venue. The matter assumes significance as there were intelligence reports of possible protests against Vijayan on the Chandy issue and police had been put on alert.
The special branch has filed a report against two sub-inspectors Bipin Das and Rajan for dereliction of their duties.
