Kottayam: Syro Malabar Church head Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Allencherry has informed the Kerala High Court that the church property is not public property.

The cardinal, representing the Catholics, said this while responding to court seeking clarification on the issue of sale of controversial church land. The matter came up before court when Joshy Varghese of Perumbavoor sought police investigation into alleged irregularities in sale of Church land.

Cardinal said Church is not a trust and a third party has no right to interfere in the land deal. The court has sought government’s response in land deal.
