Tusker runs amok, dies after falling into well in Palakkad

Kochi: A tusker owned by Guruvayur temple died when it ran amok and fell into a well during a temple festival at Palakkad last night.

Guruvayur Sheshadri got irritated while the caparison was being removed after it took part in the parading as part of the Meena Bharani festival at Uthrathilkaavi Bhagawathi temple in Sree Krishnapuram.

It ran about 2km and fell into the well in an open plot.Fire force pulled out the elephant which was declared dead by the government veterinary surgeon. A total of four elephants were hired from Guruvayur for the festival.
