Kottayam: A youth and a policeman, already under suspension, have been arrested at Perurkada in Thiruvananthapuram for blackmailing a girl after taking her nude pictures

Nivin Wilson, 24, and constable Abhilash, 42, are the culprits.

Abhilash, attached to the police control room, was already under suspension for posting criticisms against the government in social media, police said.

Nivin was in love with the girl and had promised to marry her. He had during this time taken her pictures. But later when they fell out, Nivin began sharing her pictures with other girl friends.

The victim pleaded with him to give her back the pictures. When Nivin refused to budge, she decided to seek the help of others. It was then that she got introduced to Abhilash who called up Nivin and after warning him collected the pictures.

But things took an uglier turn when Abhilash tried blackmailing her, forcing her to approach the police commissioner.

This resulted in the arrest where, according to police, Abhilash even assaulted the official who went to take him into custody.
