Chennai: Superstar turned politician, Kamal Haasan is all set to launch his political party from Madurai on Wednesday and in this connection he will begin his journey from Ramanathapuram, the birth place of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Already Kamal Haasan has reached Madurai and will be proceeding towards Rameshwaram and will also visit Dhanushkodi. He will launch his party at a rally at Madurai in the evening where he will also unfurl his party flag.

Among those who confirmed participation in the opening ceremony of his political journey is Delhi chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. According to sources close to Kamal Haasan, Arvind Kejriwal, who had met the superstar in his Chennai home in September last year, has confirmed his participation at tomorrow’s function.

But, now given the full blown political war that has blown out in Delhi with AAP in the center with Delhi chief secretary lodging serious charges against Kejriwal’s MLAs for manhandling him, it remains to be seen if Kejriwal manages to keep his date with Kamal Haasan and Madurai.

The two leaders have one thing in common – both have made anti-corruption as their mail electoral plank and their politics will revolve around this issue. It remains to be seen if Kamal Haasan and AAP will come together in any form to work together on the ground in Tamil Nadu, where AAP has failed to strike roots despite its best efforts so far.

On Tuesday, before starting for Madurai, Kamal Haasan called on film personality and president of Naam Tamilar Katchi Seeman and sought his blessings for his political journey.Yesterday, he called on DMDK leader, Captain Vijayakanth, also a film star known as Karuppu MGR, whom he described as his senior in politics and invited him also to his rally.

Kamal Haasan has also invited West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan, but there has been no word of confirmation from either of the two leaders so far, sources close to Kamal Haasan admit.
