Health authorities take dengue-prevention measures in Chennai

The health department has charted areas in Chennai and are taking preventive steps along with Chennai Corporation to reduce dengue cases Some of the areas affected included Mylapore, Abiramapuram, Korattur Eri, Madhavaram and Porur

Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said Teynampet, Adyar, Alandur, Sholinganallur, Madhavaram, Tiruvottiyur and Ambattur zones reported a higher incidence of dengue. “The health department, in coordination with the Chennai Corporation, is focusing on ward-level preventive measures. We are taking measures for reducing mosquito breeding sources and will also track the fever cases,” he said.

“All communicable diseases were under control till September-end. However, following an outbreak of H1N1 in Bengaluru, Chittoor and a few other places, we have had sporadic cases,” he added.
