Former students of Bharathiar University on Monday urged the District Collector to take steps to cancel the appointments made during the tenure of Vice-Chancellor A. Ganapathy, who was arrested on bribery charges. They also demanded an inquiry on the role of Syndicate members and HR department staff in the appointment. “We already petitioned the Ministers and concerned officials about the irregularities in the appointment of professors and other staff members one year ago. But no action has been taken till now,” they said in the petition. The Vice-Chancellor’s arrest has proved our charges right. The appointments made by him should be immediately cancelled, they said.
