Recently there have been many incidents where auto drivers have been attacked sometimes even leading to death, in Coimbatore. In order to safeguard the welfare of the auto drivers and their family, a petition was submitted to the Coimbatore Collector on behalf of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Auto Drivers Association. The District Secretary of the Association, Velusamy and Coimbatore District Secretaries of DMDK Cotton Senthil, S.M.Murugan, Thiagarajan were present. A series of demands including providing Educational scholarships to the wards of auto drivers and increasing the pension of the auto drivers were emphasized.
