Xiaomi gave the world a first glimpse of its flagship Mi 5 at MWC 2016. At MWC 2018, the Chinese company is expected to take the wraps off the Mi 7, its next generation flagship. Ahead of its supposed unveiling, the Mi 7 has been found lurking around the length and breadth of the Internet with a new leaked image apparently showing off the rear of the phone in question. Three things really stand out: a) the Mi 7 will have a glass back, b) because it will have a glass back, chances are it may support wireless charging, and c) it will come with dual cameras on the back.

Xiaomi is set to be one of the exhibitors at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which means that it’s likely to show off its products to a global audience. While there’s no official clarity on whether the Mi 7 will make the cut, the fact that the company has taken the same event to showcase its last-generation flagship, we can say that there’s some hope. That or Xiaomi may choose to show off its existing devices, and probably announce a broader rollout for some of them, we do not know for sure.

Xiaomi marked its presence at the recently concluded Qualcomm Summit and was in fact the first company to say that its next flagship will be powered by the next-generation Snapdragon 845 processor. This flagship phone – likely to be called the Mi 7 – may be announced at MWC, with availability details to follow later. Xiaomi chose to restrict the availability of its last flagship phone, the Mi 6. The phone didn’t even make it to India, but, chances are things may change with the Mi 7. The way things are shaping up for the Mi 7, it won’t be wrong to say that it’s a flagship to watch out for.

Rumour has it that the Mi 7 will come with an 18:9 bezel-less screen and a 3D face unlock feature similar to Apple’s Face ID. There have been reports that suggest the phone may ditch a physical fingerprint scanner and instead opt for an in-screen solution, something that was previously rumoured for the Mi 6 as well. Although, the leaked image doing the rounds shows off a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which contradicts this report.
