A man was arrested on the charge of killing his coworker by pumping air into his rectum through an electrical pump, police said on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Ravindra Kumar (40), battled for his life for 30 hours and eventually succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night.

The incident took place at Laxmi traders in Nangloi on Wednesday at around 10 am. A police officer said Anjam Mishra was playing a prank on Kumar, who was pumping the air into a tyre of an auto riskshah, and in the process, his trouser slipped slightly below his hip.

“As Kumar’s some body part was exposed, Mishra inserted pressure pipe inside his trouser, and switched the lever on. Due to high pressure, air forcibly entered into Kumar’s abdomen through rectum,” the officer said.

After this incident, the shop owner and Mishra took Kumar to the nearby hospital and admitted him in the ICU. The duo had misled doctors about the victim’s condition.

The doctors, however, detected complications in rectum and informed the police.

“The hospital informed us about the patient, and when we interrogated Mishra, he confessed to the crime,” the officer said.

“Mishra has been arrested by outer district police. He is booked under the relevant IPC section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder,” he added.
