For the rest of the world he is a typical 37-year old middle class man living in Mumbai. And yes, he is also known as brother of India’s most influential writer, Chetan Bhagat. But when he takes the stage, he leaves the audience wondering if they are watching a stand-up comedy of sorts. And, he is Ketan Bhagat, author of ‘Child/God’.

This was his second visit to Coimbatore city and he was happy to be back. “It is like home coming for me. I like this place and the people have been very nice to me,” Ketan Bhagat says.

He was a speaker at the third International Conference on ‘International Marketing in Asia Pacific – Issues and Challenges (ICIM) 2015’, jointly organised by GRD Institute of Management and GRD School of Commerce and International Business.

His “national bestseller” is dedicated to his son, Rian. Ketan does not shy away from the fact that he has learnt a lot from his little son. He shares with us that post his son’s birth, life has changed a lot for him.

“I have learnt more from my son than I have taught him.” Ketan says. When asked if the birth of his son was the turning point in his life, he says without hesitation, “yes”.

Someone who loves to learn from others, Ketan has positive views about today’s youth. In his opinion, today’s youth “are smart, tech-savvy and optimistic”.

While he is talking to us, he is constantly interrupted by students with requests for having his book autographed, and selfies too. He obliges them. When asked what comes first, the chicken or the egg? He takes his time to answer “I think the ban on chicken and eggs came first, ” Ketan leaves us with that thought.
