Leaders of various political parties on Monday attended the all-party meeting called by the DMK to chalk out the future course of action with regard to the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test (NEET). The meeting condemned the Centre for not taking adequate steps to exempt Tamil Nadu from NEET.
Leaders from Congress, CPI, CPI-M and VCK participated meeting, which was chaired by DMK Working President M.K. Stalin.
The meeting also condoled the death of Anita, who committed suicide at Ariyalur last week as she could not get a medical seat due to her poor score in NEET.
Meanwhile, students from several colleges in the State staged demonstrations and took out rallies urging the Centre to exempt the State from NEET. They also condoled Anita’s death.
Amid the protests, counselling for medical seats based on the NEET scores got over in all government colleges in the State on Monday as per the Supreme Court deadline. Classes for first year medical and dental colleges also began.
