Forest officials on Wednesday arrested four persons for hunting deer and seized venison from them at the Sirumugai forest area. They also slapped a fine of Rs. 50,000 each on them.

According to Forest Ranger N. Manoharan, a team of officials rushed to the forest, following a tip off, and arrested them. “We seized deer meat from them,” he said and added that the four would be released once they pay the fine amount. “If they continue with the crime, they will be arrested and severe action will be taken against them,” the official pointed out.

The four were identified as Mohanraj, Aravind Surya, Senthilkumar and Sundarraj.
