Eighteen persons have been admitted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for dengue and 111 for fever, according to Dr. R. Soundravel, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital.

“The number of cases is less when compared to couple of weeks back,” he said.

According to hospital sources 111 persons have been admitted to the hospital for fever. “Blood tests have been conducted. Once the results come, we will start the right treatment. If any of them test positive for dengue, they will be shifted to special ward.”

“The Corporation has been conducting awareness campaigns periodically in the city on dengue. Officials are on regular visits to areas that have been identified as hot spots. People have been advised to cover the water bodies near their houses,” a Corporation official said.
