Singer Yesudas seeks permission to enter Sree Padmanabhaswami temple

Kozhikode: Popular singer Yesudas has sought permission to enter Sree Padmanabhaswami temple at Thiruvananthapuram.

The request was given to the temple Executive Officer Ratheesh through a special representative on Saturday.The request is to allow him to offer worship at the temple on September 30 in connection with Vijayadasami Day.

The decision on this will be taken at the meeting of the Executive committee on Monday. Normally only Hindus are allowed inside the temple and in rare cases foreigners who believe in other faith are also allowed to offer worship. Those giving letter claiming that they are followers of Hindu religion or producing certificates from Ramakrishna Mission and similar organisations are also allowed.

A Christian by birth, Yesudas is a firm believer of Hinduism and is a regular visitor to many temples in the State including Sabarimala. He is also allowed in temples in Karnataka like Mookambikai Temple besides others in Tamil Nadu.

However, similar requests to Guruvayur temple manangement, a number of times, have been rejected in the past.
