BJP’s attempt to gain foothold in Tamil Nadu will never succeed, CPI State Unit Secretary, R Mutharasan said today.

The party was trying to gain foothold in the State, keeping the ‘puppet Government of AIADMK upfront’ which will never succeed that too in the land of ‘Periyar,’ Mutharasan said.

Talking to reporters after garlanding the statue of Periyar, he said with Tamil Nadu government loosing majority, the Government is being run only with the support of Prime Minister and Governor.

Accusing the Governor of functioning as a representative of the Centre, he said that the Governor has the right to order a floor test in the Assembly. Despite representations by the opposition parties, the Governor was silent on the issue, Mutharasan said.

He expressed his happiness over the defeat of BJP leader H Raja in the elections held for the President post of Bharat Scouts and Guides.
