City–based fashion designer Manoj Saravanan now holds the world record for launching the maximum number of fashion labels, simultaneously putting out 135 of them under one roof.

The record was achieved at the fourth edition of Coimbatore fashion fest held this month. Coimbatore fashion fest was first held in 2013 to promote city-based fashion designers. According to a statement from the organisers, this is the first time a record has been attempted in this particular category. It was awarded by Indian Records Academy.

In all, 135 fashion labels of 200 students of costume design were launched. The team had applied with the Indian Records Academy in August and an official adjudicator monitored the team’s movement on stage and backstage. As many as 30 professional models walked the ramp.

“The credit goes to my team too, Sruthi Shanmugapriya city-based actress, city-based entrepreneur Srinath, Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Mahalingam Karthickeayen and Sucharitra, HoD of Costume Design and Fashion at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science Coimbatore,” Manoj said.
