Renovated Harmony Park for elders inaugurated

City Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan today inaugurated the renovated park for elders in
Chandrakanthi Nagar in Peelamedu area in the city.

The park was renovated by CRI Pumps as part of its CSR activities.

Vijayakarthikeyan sought the cooperation of the private sector to carry out such development activities across the city.

More than 3,200 individual and public toilets were constructed under public-private participation across the city, he said and urged big companies to come forward to develop infrastructure for public benefit.

The park was designed exclusively for elders by taking steps to address their special needs on the 25.5-cent land, company Joint Managing director G Selvaraj said.

Walkers path, which is wheelchair-friendly, has been laid. Ramp has been provided from the road to the paved area. There will also be railings along the path.A wide variety of saplings have been planted, giving the garden a green look.

The company in association with the Resident Awareness Association of Coimbatore and GRG Chandrakandhi Nagar Welfare Association is planning to make it a unique park which special emphasis to meet our the needs of elders, Selvaraj said.
