Stoking the controversy about the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, ousted AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran said his aunt VK Sasikala, now in jail, had taken just video clips of Jayalalithaa watching television in the hospital.

These footages taken on the request of Jayalalitha could not be made public “as she was in night dress”, he said. These were taken when she was shifted from ICU to the general ward, he added. However, Dhinakaran said they “will be released at an appropriate time”.

He said the inquiry against him and his aunt regarding Jayalalithaa’s death was no cause for concern and “we are not bothered even if there is an Interpol investigation”.

Dhinakaran said Sasikala was not allowed to stay parmanently with Jayalalithaa when she was under treatment in Apollo Hospital. “My aunt used to go once in a while to see Amma only after getting permission from the doctors,” he said.

It was recently that Forest Minister Dindigul Srinivasan’s dropped a bombshell claiming he had lied about Jayalalithaa’s health when she was in the hospital. The Opposition was quick to respond demanding a probe into the ‘mystery’ behind the death.
