Farmers in and around Gudalur and Kothagiri have expressed happiness over the growth of coffee seeds in the district this year.

The farmers, who had planted coffee, potato, carrot, orange in their tea gardens in between the tea plantations, were disappointed last year as both South West and North East monsoons failed.

“We have been following the practice of planting these vegetables and fruits in between tea crops and the yield was fetching us a good income. But in the last two years, the situation went bad due to failure of monsoon. We are now happy as the coffee seeds have come out well,” a farmer said.
