Police on Wednesday arrested a youth, who was involved in a chain snatching incident in Saravanampatti and recovered a three sovereign chain from him.

According to sources, Revathy, a resident of Ganapathy, was walking along the road in Kumaran Nagar on Tuesday, when an unidentified motorist snatched her chain and sped away. An alert Revathy noted down the vehicle number and lodged a complaint with the Saravanampatti police.

When cops attached to the E3 Saravanampatti Station were conducting routine checks near Ayurvedic Hospital in Vilankurichi Road, they spotted a two-wheeler, whose registration number Revathy had given to the police.

The cops – Sub Inspector M. Nallusami and constables Senthil Kumar and Prabhakaran caught the youth Santhosh Kumar of Ramakrishnapuram in Ganapathy and recovered the chain from him.

He was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate, who remanded him to custody.
