Salem: Hadiya from Kerala who has been in focus owing to what is termed as a case of ‘love jihad’ and allowed by the Supreme Court to continue her studies at the Homeopathy Medical College here, says she wants to speak to her ‘near and dear ones’.

“For the past six months, I have been talking to persons (parents), who I hated for their harassment during my stay with them,” she told mediapersons on the college premises.

Hadiya had been in the news recently for the alleged love-jihad case after converting to Islam after a marriage with Muslim boy. She was brought to Salem last night and is staying in the college hostel.

Asked about her husband, she said there had been no contact for the last few months and she did not have a mobile phone. The only persons who spoke to her were her parents and there was ‘no freedom at all’.

Hadiya (25), who will undergo internship in the college for 11 months, said she was very eager to speak to her husband Shafin Jahan.

About the facilities available in the hostel and college and also protection, Hadiya repeatedly said she was not aware about them and would reply to all questions of the media, which had supported her, in another two days. She requested mediapersons to ‘understand her situation’.

She added that she had not received the copy of the Supreme Court order,after which she would be able to communicate more.
