Additional coaches to clear festival rush

The Salem Division of Southern Railways has decided to attach additional coaches to some trains to clear extra rush during Pongal time.
Twelve passenger trains and two express trains will get additional coaches from Thursday (January 11) to January 17.
The passenger train between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore will get two additional general second class coaches, while the Erode-Trichy Passenger, Trichy-Erode passenger, Erode-Jolarpet passenger and Jolarpet- Erode passenger will get one additional general class coach each. The Coimbatore-Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express will get one additional non-ac chair car.
Also, Karur-Trichy-Karur Passenger Train (DEMU) has been extended till Salem between January 11 and 17 (excluding Sunday). The train will leave Trichy at 9.35 a.m. and reach Salem at 1.25 p.m. and start from Salem at 1.30 p.m. and reach Trichy at 5.35 p.m.
