COIMBATORE: The City police has decided to seize two-wheelers that produce loud noise and fine the drivers.

Disclosing this to mediapersons Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sujith Kumar said two-wheelers without silencers create nuisance by making loud noise especially during night times. “Those vehicles will be seized immediately and they will be produced in the court. Action will be taken against the riders and they will be fined,” he said.

Action will also be taken against those who use LED lights in their vehicles, especially near the leg guards. The DCP advised motorists to use original spare parts for their vehicles. “Traffic police will check the vehicles at various check points in the city. If our personnel is not able to catch a vehicle, they will alert the next check point, where the vehicle will be impounded,” Sujith Kumar added.

The department has also planned to install traffic signals at 4 or 5 points between SITRA junction and Chinniyampalayam to prevent over speeding of vehicles at Avinashi Road. “ Most of the accidents at the Avinashi Road happen because of over speeding. We have already started placing barricades at different points in Avinashi Road, that has brought down the incidents of over speeding considerably in the last three days,” he said.

Similar barricades will be placed in Trichy Road and  Sathy Road.
