Coimbatore: Nearly 100 DYFI and SFI activists today observed one-day hunger strike in nearby Tirupur, seeking a detailed
probe into the mysterious death of a PG medical student, Sharathbabu, who was found dead near the toilet of his apartment in Delhi a couple of days ago.

The activists squatted in front of the railway station and blamed the Central Government for failing to provide adequate protection to Tamil students, as this was the second death of a medical student.

Even as the cause of the death of Saravanan of AIIMS some two years ago was yet to be ascertained, another mysterious death of a medical student had raised many eyebrows, since both hailed fro Tirupur, they said.

The Centre should take steps to provide security to the Tamil students and Tamil Nadu Government should set up a counselling centre at Tamil Nadu House in Delhi, The activists wanted both the Centre and State government to take steps to put an end to such deaths in future.
