Draped in leaves, man stages dharna seeking patta

COIMBATORE: Dejected over rejection of his repeated pleas for a patta for a land, a 40-year-old man from Sulur staged a dharna at the collectorate by covering his lower part of his body with leaves and holding skulls in his hand on Monday.
According to police, Saravanan allegedly attempted to commit suicide by setting himself and his family members on fire twice for not receiving any response from the authorities for his petitions seeking patta for his land in Ward 7 in Sulur.
Wearing leaves around his waist, Saravanan held two skulls in his hand and demanded for patta for a land in his mother’s name.Saravanan, who painted his eyebrows in red and white, said his fight to get a patta would continue.
